Hoaxer a confession!

Yet another Skeptoid fan here.
I think we should start a threat about hoaxes we would like to perpetrate ourselves
Oh, man, this is really almost a kind of obsession with me. I have a background in forensic anthropology (my undergraduate work) and spent a lot of time making a pair of perfect bigfoot feet. It didn't cost a lot, either. I started with a set of size 18 Nikes that I bought at Ross for $25.00. I cut the bottoms off and I use MOST of my own size 13 foot for the foot - so it preserves the dermal ridges and all that stuff. And then I just used a little latex and wood to fill in the rest of the foot - also cast with my own foot. Because the footprint is made by me and my own working toes, etc it leaves the kind of imprint a real giant foot would leave - the only part that's fake is the heel area - and that's the lest flexible part of the foot anyway. The best part is, I can walk around in them and they just look like me wearing big basketball shoes. In the winter, with jeans and coat on, you don't even notice them.
So far, no one has yet picked up on them. I want someone to find them, then send a cast to Jeff Meldrum, have him confirm them as "real," and then out the footprints in an article for a skeptical publication. I've never made any secret of the fact I hoax bigfoot footprints. When people ask me what I'm doing - I confess right away and explain the project. I even had a game warden ask me why I was out in the woods in deep snow. I explained and he just said, "um, ok - go ahead."

So what do you all think about a "forensic anthropology (my undergraduate work)" student doing this?

Well at least we know there is someone out there hoaxing that is taking credit for it. But why? If they are in that type of profession you would think they would try to prove/disprove the existence of Bigfoot, rather than perpetrating a hoax.
I hope I don't come across this yahoo.

It wont fool Meldrum. The dermal ridges of purported sasquatch feet are not the same kind found in human feet and the shape of the foot, is not like human feet. If he is using his bare feet mixed in with a shoe, then he is also leaving an arch. As for the heel not being important.. well, Sasquatch step down almost completely flat-footed. Humans, however, strike heel first. So let the guy make an ass out of himself...

I have always observed hoaxers as intellectual polluters at best...IMO it is sad to see a bright individual invest time and energy in an endeavor to spread misinformation and confusion. This is activity akin to defecating in a public swimming pool just to observe the reactions of the innocent. Pitiful.

No wonder the community is in such disaray. Having someone trying hoax other people; not really what it says about the person who would spend so much time to try confuse people; most people try to make a difference for the better. To bad they wouldn't use that energy to trying to find real proof.

I agree, surely a person with those qualifications would achieve something beneficial if the same amount of effort was applied, to me that is a waste of study time and effort. I also agree that Dr Meldrrum would have no difficulty in identifying the hoax that it is.

Pretty much an insult to other people and just a waste of our time. Sign of a sick mind and not at all humorous. Got his email address so we can redirect all the spam and phishing emails we receive. Then we will see how funny he thinks that is.

i DOUBT THAT THIS METHOD WOULD FOOL ANYONE, LET ALONE MELDRUM
The big difference in a sasquatch foot compared to a normal size 13 human foot is in width. Sasquatch feet are up to ten inches wide for a 22-28" long footprint. Less wide for a 13" print...but still wider than a human's foot. Plus, a 13" footprint is so average for an American male (I have two grandsons that wear size 13 shoes), that anyone seeing the footprint would think nothing of it beyond a barefoot human.
