My guess...
A black bear with it's head turned away from the camera, while running through the shot.

Not sure what it is but I see litttle similarity to the pic. I don't see it turned away like you say..interesting pic..
but in the end, your conclusion is the most plausible and Field & Stream neglected to clarify just to add to the mystery and the buzz.

I think that the pic in the referenced Yeti sightings hat we discussed in the other thread looks much more like the trail cam pic..

Re: trail-camera-contest-2012-best Bigfoot?
I would definitely vote no for a Bigfoot on this one.
IMO it looks like a person with some type of coat or camouflage suit, wearing a paint ball mask stooping and running past. The hair on its head appears to be human or poodle in nature, with a cut or trimmed look not natural.

No BF its gonna take a real clear shot, which still doesn't exist, photos like the VT, jacobs, hovey are all skeptical, i have seen one that is not being put online that will be in an upcoming DVD, that is good, and was researched at the site, but you will have to get the dvd when it comes out..

This is exactly what I've thought also. It does not look like a bear to me. They could even be wearing fur.
