So Scientists "Hypothesized" on this Particle

The Higgs boson particle is a manifestation of an energy field pervading the universe called the Higgs field, which is thought to explain why particles have mass. After searching for decades for proof that this field and particle existed, physicists at the LHC announced in July 2012 that they'd discovered a new particle whose properties strongly suggest it is the Higgs boson.

Yes, they performed a set of observations, examined the available data, discovered an unexplained anomaly in the data (and had this anomaly checked and rechecked by a whole slew of independent researchers) and then explored several hypotheses that may have potentially explained the data before arriving at a parsimonious hypothesis that seemed to best explain it. They then spent decades researching it before they found compelling empirical proof to validate that hypothesis. Note they're not claiming that they're definitely found it just yet, just that they've taken some large steps towards that goal - the very next section of the article after the part you quoted talks about how more data is needed before they can form a conclusive identification of the particle.

LOL your missing the Point.

They whole theory is based off something that they can't explain WHY it is happening when it shouldn't. So they said well some unkown Particle is causing this to happen. So lets spend all this money to find out.
And yet Science doesn't believe in ESP, Ghosts, or Bigfoot ~ sorry I find it ammusing~

Science has long studied ESP, ghosts and Bigfoot and there's still scientists researching all those things today. So far no one has found any conclusive scientific evidence for any of them.
The Higgs-Boson particle, on the other hand, has some excellent evidence to back it up.

It is 'unconfirmed', not 'unknown'. There's a whole bunch of valid empirical evidence to support the hypothesis. There's a big difference.
