Strange but true.

I'd like to see a thread that has 101 different bizarre known realities that have been discovered. Every time you come across something unbelievable and flies in the face of conventional logic or science, post it here. Then, post a link to proof of it's existence.

Don't get clever and post the word bigfoot and then say you can't find a link for proof. I called it for you before you got there.

What I think this would do is open very small closed minds to see how some things don't run a logical or expected course and sometimes even runs counter to the expected order.

Don't try to get there and strike it rich. Otherwise you'll be dragging down to price of diamonds to....well zero!

Catfish beneath the Namibian desert Empty Strange properties of liquid helium

Post  paul830 Tue Feb 05, 2013 10:05 am

Apparently when you bring helium to the freezing point ( - 452 degrees fahrenheit ) it exhibits strange behaviours such as defying gravity and passing right through the molecules of the container holding it.

Oh man, superfluids are great. Mad science in its purest form.

Catfish beneath the Namibian desert Empty Being a 'crazy cat lady' is a real disease

Post  paul830 Fri Feb 08, 2013 11:38 am

Crazy cat ladies ( and men ) are caused by Toxoplasmosis, a bacteria carried by cats that changes the hardwiring of the brain. The more cats you have, the more likely you are to have it!

Catfish beneath the Namibian desert Empty Snake oil was real medicine that actually worked

Post  paul830 Fri Feb 15, 2013 2:51 am

It turns out that what turned snake oil into a huckster trade wasn't because it didn't do anything, it was because of the hucksters who got involved and started making cheap imitations with bad ingredients.

Catfish beneath the Namibian desert Empty Explain this

Post  paul830 Sat May 11, 2013 2:41 pm

This is more of a subjective experience but I'm quite sure similar things have happened to others and I'd like to hear about it if it did.

I was at the computer last night while my wife was in the living room watching t.v. I was doing a search for a particular book on history and typed the word 'Irish' which was in the title. A girl on the show my wife was watching said the word "Irish" at the exact same moment my fingers were hitting the keyboard. Weird. Coincidental maybe but strange.

20 minutes later I was typing in the word 'electronic' just at the moment a girl on the show said the word "electronic". This was getting weirder. 2 coincidences. The timing was the weirdest part. These shows had nothing at all to do with the subjects I was searching for. In fact it was ' Real housewives of Miami ' or something like that.

30 minutes later my wife was watching the end of another show. I had been on youtube looking the song 'L'Inverno - Largo' By Vivaldi. I listened to a few versions trying to find the best one. A few minutes later, the end of the show my wife was watching began playing the song 'L'Inverno - Largo' by Vivaldi.

I began running around the room shouting incoherently about synchronicity. My wife just stared at me blankly.

Catfish beneath the Namibian desert Empty Ladies and gentlemen....Elvis......monkey.

Post  paul830 Mon May 13, 2013 11:50 pm

R. strykeri monkey, nicknamed the 'Elvis monkey' because of it's pompadour-like head hair. It was discovered two years ago. New photos were released last year.

Very true and if it had one white hand that looked like a glove, well that might be a call for a name change.

Catfish beneath the Namibian desert Empty New human species discovered in China

Post  paul830 Sat Jun 01, 2013 1:49 am

Not exactly 'new' news but debate is ongoing concerning the 'red deer cave people' being another branch of hominins recently discovered.

Just how many species of hominins are there anyway? What are we at now...like 8? 9? In the early 90's I'm pretty sure it was still looking like homo sapiens was it. The time frames for OTHER forms of 'humanoids' keeps drawing closer and closer.

Also, an important point to keep in mind is that the recent dates of artifacts are just the most recent that have been found to date. Anything more recent, is also probable unless the discovery can be verified as an extinction site. One has to assume these possible relatives to have lived even closer to our own time frame. Unless of course they are.....uh, still around? Discoveries like this get me wondering.

Catfish beneath the Namibian desert Empty Underground cities?

Post  paul830 Wed Jun 05, 2013 5:43 am

Not right now. 10,000 years ago. And it could shelter up to 20,000 people!!

I can't believe I keep uncovering all this crazy stuff. First of all because I can't believe some of it's real. Also I keep posting it on here. I think maybe I should just get my own blog.... but I am very lazy.

http://www.goreme.com/derinkuyu-underground-city.php

Here's a link to a VERY untrustworthy web page. It's known as Weakopedia. Stinkipedia. BS-opedia. Don't worry this article is fine. Just don't ever use it for fair and balanced information kids!

here's a better one
