Psychics and Afterlife?
So I figure i would share this here.
I want to say about 8 years ago i went to a Physic in my town. She was an older woman with lots of religious items in her home.
Cross's the Virgin Mother images all over her home. Just seemed odd to me at the time since most Psychics I know were more pagan (Wicca).
Any way this woman had very good reviews from others who went to her.
I recall when I went to her I sat down on her dinning room table. Then was asked to cut a ordinary deck of cards. While cutting the deck to think of a question. Well i did this and then she took the cards and answered the Question. Then she just began talking to me about things. She didn't wait for answers she would look up and off to the side. Like she was listening to someone.
She had spoken things about my Dog I had to put down because of Elliptic seizures he had. She would not have known about this or his hip problems.
She told me about my guardian angles. She went on.
At the time my grandmother was ill, she then spoke to me about her that when she is ready to go My Uncle who had died when i was younger would come down to take her with him. Now I didn't tell anyone in my family about this. Not even my mother.
Well when my Grandmother passed away my mom was at her side. My mom told me that She heard my Grandmother whisper out her brothers name, then my Mother saw a bright light white at the foot of the bed. And my grandmother passed away.
When my mother told me about this, I finally told her what this Psychic said to me years earlier.
So I really believe we don't even understand 3/4 of what we think we do.
I believe in what we call the "paranormal" I believe its real, i believe we also have the ability to see into these dimensions if only our brains were fully used.

While not everyone has had experiences like yours, it is safe to say we all have felt chills, had the hair stand up on the back of our necks, felt someone watching us, and many of the other little feelings like that. Senses beyond the known five but are undeniably real. Experiments centered around extraordinary human perceptions have been going on for years.
"Science" like this is hard to prove, it is based on an individuals perceptions and not something you can hold in your hands.

I don't believe in psychics who claim to talk to the spirits of the dead and all of that. Nobody has proven they are able to do it. (and the Amazing Randi's and Penn and Teller's $1 million still hasn't been won). They use techniques of cold reading, background information and manipulation to fool people into believing them. There is the possiblity that some people can make connections faster than other people. But I don't see that as any paranormal activity.

I would like for you to point out where I "bashed". cold reading, having shills in the audience and manipulation are all known techniques admitted by former "psychics"

Might I suggest that if we are removing offensive post, then let us lso remove post discussing them. Since they are not relevant to the topic, they are just, to say it politely, clutter that detracts from the topic.

While this true, it does not prove that real instances of "psychic" ability have not occured. As an example...talk to a multitude of twins and they will tell you there is some sort of connection, even over long distances. Again it is something that can not be measured, can not be proven, but is a widely known phenomena.

Re: Psychics and Afterlife?
Nobody has shown this to be the case though..... everybody who has tried to has failed miserably.
Randi has demonstrated these techniques to audiences and they were amazed at his "ability" only to be dismayed when he told them later how he did it. We can't dismiss the willingness of a client/audience to be "amazed" in these instances. If people want to believe that a psychic is telling them about their dead relatives or whatever, they are going to be psychologically open to hang on the things that match and forget about the things that don't. a selective confirmation bias.
