Is the Legend of Bigfoot dying?
This is based on my personal opinions, observations and experiences and is not intended to offend or discredit anyone / organization.
I have followed this subject on and off for over 35 years and for the most part the stories and sightings, along with the bad photography and questionable footprints are more or less the same. What has changed is the increase in the amount of information being provided, which is obviously due to technology making it easy to share. This in itself coming from the everyday person does nothing to hurt the overall subject, as it is in keeping with the overall trend of sharing all types of experiences across the internet.
What I do see as a rising problem is the amount of Bigfoot Experts, Researchers, and Hunters that continue to claim they are on the verge of proving the existence, and then deliver nothing but excuses and or more questionable evidence. Many of these people / organizations make claims of numerous interactions, secret hot spots, dead bodies, DNA, or some other game changing evidence, yet they have provided nothing to substantiate any claim more so than what has been done in the past, except now it happens at a much higher rate.
We have the internet, TV shows, Facebook, Blogs, radio and newspapers all willing to post and do almost anything for attention / ratings, so when all of these grandiose claims prove to be naught, it makes the whole subject of Bigfoot and those who follow it appear to be silly.
It doesn’t matter if the person or organization is considered a top researcher or respectable person, if the claim is made you better be able to back it up. No matter how gullible the masses are, eventually everyone gets tired of the boy who cried wolf. And lately he has been screaming his head off.
With the less than credible claims and questionable evidence that has come to light over the past several years, I believe that Bigfoot the Legend is dying, and it is being replaced by a cheap shallow knock off that is used for personal gain and attention.
I was much happier when the claims were few and the evidence was sparse, it was easy to hold out hope for the big guy. I always thought that by this point in my life it would have been a thing of fact and not legend.
But as time and technology goes on it would seem that adding merit to our claims would be easier, but this is not the case. Instead we get hoaxes and blurry pictures that serve to poke more holes in the legend, until eventually it will sink and be nothing more than a joke.
For those of you who have had a real and true experience with Bigfoot, I’m jealous, because no matter what, you will believe.
For me, it will take cold hard proof to make me a light hearted believer once more.

i can understand why you feel this way. i agree that 99.999% of the stuff on these blogs, t.v.,etc. is pure garbage. and i'm still looking for that .0001% that isn't. if i had not had an up close and personal experience many decades ago, i would not bother to monitor any of these sights.

yea all the Bf BS on the internet is out of control, you gotta have a sense of humor and not take what is posted on the internet too seriously, i always say if there is a real pic or video shot, it shouldn't go right on the internet it should stay private and studied by those who know something about the subject, and will keep it quiet. im guessing when the new season of finding bigfoot starts, there will be a rash of new reports.. As Ray Crowe would say KEEP YOUR SKEPTICS ON when reading these reports....

Good post. And what contributes to all of this is technology while helping the real guys get closer and closer is also
enabling the hoaxers to get better and better. So the chaff is almost overwhelming the wheat so to speak.

The introduction of "real" tv production is prosperous. Therefore opening the flood gates to all kinds of entertaining shows with little substance. I yearn for the days of "In Search Of"," Wild Kingdom" etc.... In my opinion these shows did not force feed the info to you.

Agreed, as soon as you become part of the “Reality TV” world and start producing episodes and seasons, all credibility is lost. They can say and claim anything they want to, if it is part of an ongoing series, it has no credibility in my book. It is entertainment and the object of it all is money!
I do not believe that if Bigfoot is proved and presented to the world, it will not be by any of these famous self titled experts.

I sooooo agree. The commercialism of Bigfoot is going to get us nowhere.
