I joined the forum to avoid the trolls

The two maybe three trolls making a permanent home on this site are making commenting and interaction a very unattractive prospect. These people are beneath contempt and the proudly anti-social behaviour is really off putting.

Isn't someone in charge or willing to pay attention and take responsibility for this? It like a cockroach infestation in a hotel. The first guests that come here get chased out by the cockroaches before they check in and maybe never return.

I'm thinking somebody has a real agenda or beef with something to do with this site.
Anybody have any answers for this? It's been commented on here a few times I've noticed.
It's been mentioned that they're destroying the site. I don't know how true that is but I know it's not as convenient to make a simple comment or ask a question and logging into this forum seems to be the only way to have an intelligent conversation.

Is there a channel to someone who can take some notice and regulate this better?
My recommendation is to constantly remind visitors to join the forum. As in everyday. Warn them of the two trolls circling the moat and avoid them by coming inside.

Not feeding them isn't good enough. They seem to have their own fuel supply. It might be a vendetta.

That is why most of us are here... Shawn does not seem to view it as a problem. But it is actually killing his blog. You allow one guy to blurt obscenities and make personal attacks on people while hiding behind an Anonymous title, then you get what we have now.. 100's of them. No respectable parent would allow their kids to view it, nor would most decent people be able to tolerate it for long. The sad part is, if you go back and read old topics, the dialog was fantastic. Arguments were intelligent.. Not now

I remember that. I've been visiting this site for about two years. There used to be great and interesting conversations going on all the time. Anonymous commenters were few and far between Most people were registered.

I don't think it's as many people trolling as they make it seem. There are themes to the comments and too many similarities, references and inside jokes. I think it's the same three people posting over and over. They're so persistent and energetic they just make it seem like a lot more in number. I could be wrong but I don't think so.

It would be really funny if it was Shawn himself. That would actually make some weird kind of sense to it all.

BTW I like your profile pic. Isn't that by an artist by the name of Paul Smith?

Yeah, I agree it's just 4 or 5 guys horsing around. The one that sets up his own jokes to answer himself is *sometimes* witty ~ should be writing TV scripts, not wasting time here. And yes, I'm sure one of them is Shawn, and one of them is Smeja. LATELY, they've toned down the taterhole crudeness. Hope it lasts...............

Thanks, Paul. Can only speak for myself ~ I was talking about the regular blog comments "out there".

I was talking about the blog comments outside the forum. The way I see it, we're inside the castle walls, they're hanging around outside in the moat under the bridge, like a troll would do. Distracting and discouraging people from having reasonable conversations. Driving people to go inside here or just away.

People are hesitant already to talk about this stuff and a lot of them are on the fence, myself included, so it can have a stronger effect putting people off than a troll would have somewhere else.

I believe that it's at least possible for these things to exist, and am of course discouraged by the huge amount of hoaxery surrounding the topic. It makes it a daunting task to gather information or evidence while wading through the piles of misinformation, deception, lies, stunts and ploys that are everywhere.

I have a feeling that when something seems about to happen and there's a lot of expectation, when it ends up being another hoax, everybody just gets discouraged and takes a break and walks away. Some permanently. That seems to be when the trolls really get busy. It's bad for the site and if Shawn can't see that, then I have to wonder about what his priorities are all about. Is it blind neglect or something else?

aside from the wording, the part about me not believing in evolution was the dead give-away lol. I am guessing he actually got banned from the blog? He had no problem with posting under HillbillyBigfoot, or Stankape in the past.

Four guys or a hundred, it needs to be dealt with. What is the point in having a blog when no one feels safe to express their opinion? And it's not even the named trolls that bother me. It's the cowards that take the cheap-shots hiding under "Anonymous" and then slinking back in the shadows.

I have gotten into some heated arguments with Team-Tazer people and with Tim Fasano. But that ugly mug under "Tzieth" is my REAL LIFE ugly mug.. I have nothing to hide. But for some lil Bish to make an attack on someone with no fear of retaliation.... Damn i want to just track them down and back hand them like the little... erm nevermind.. Happy Dance... TZ I admire you for sticking to your guns. But here is what I do, I have a alias as another name and it was a blog. So I use that name to post under the name in the blog comments. Probably would be easy to figure out who I am, because I NEVER use an Anon poster, I have my blog name and use it every time.
I would suggest you use an alias out there. Until SHawn gets the idea to start Moding the comments thats what I do.
I didnt set it UP that way, just played out that way and it works.
I can protect my usual guys in here, I cant out there.

There are a lot of tasteless comments but every now and again there are a few gems that have me laughing hard.

heckled, there can be debate as long as its to the subject and stay on topic. We dont censor here but
Sean likes people to be respectful and be able to say what they want.

On the comments out there. Sean said that many of them post from cell phones and there is no way
to keep these people out. I asked him if we got rid of the anon posting but he said no. He realizes
that he cant do much with the way the comments is set up.

There is something he can do about it.. Get rid of the Anom option! Most of the newer phones have google chrome. There is no excuse for this B.S Anymore. If I got to the first five posts on whatever topic is currently there, I can almost gauntee there will be some obscene and senseless text, an attack, or the word "tator hole" after the "First" crap.. TZ I like your idea. I have brought that up to him before. I have talked to Sean two times this week about
the comment sections so I will wait till Monday and bring up your idea again. It really is the best idea.

Good job TZ and GT3Paul.

I do like the fact that Sean keeps the dialogue open and all opinions are welcome. The skeptic, witness and believer sides all meeting are what make the conversations interesting. I just don't know if Sean realizes how juvenile the comments section has become. It's purile jokes, winks and nods back and forth between a few people, most of them trolls. Not an open dialogue environment.

Skeptics are fine.. But these aren't skeptics. I don't think they care one way or the other, they just get off on making personal attacks on people and then jumping back into the shadows.
