Re:Movie Junky Thread
I like almost every kind of movie, especially the old B&W's. Everything from Ever After to Fargo as well. I tend to be interested in some of the more "out there" movies.
I admittedly have a soft spot for the B movies. Friends and I would sit around watching these while drinking beer and make up our own dialogue to make the movies more interesting.

Re: Movie Junky Thread
My all-time favorite movie (and book) is Lonesome Dove. If you haven't seen/read it yet, BE SURE to see the flick first. Robert Duvall (in his favorite role), Tommy Lee Jones and the entire cast so exquisitely captured their characters that it's a joy to "picture" and "hear" them when I re-read the book. I'll often grab it and open to any random page ~ I'm sure to marvel at McMurtry's gift with words, and most likely chuckle a few times too. A true triumph of the human imagination...................
and partially based in the true story of Robert Goodnight and Oliver Loving ~ Texas Rangers and cattlemen. It was originally to be a standard Hollywood production with Jimmy Stewart as Gus, John Wayne as Call, and Henry Fonda as Jake Spoon. John Wayne's agent insisted it would be a bad role for him, so Stewart walked, and production was shelved.
Thank goodness the 8-hour mini-series was produced instead. The story was too big for a 90-min movie. Because of this minor detail, a friend argues I can't name it my favorite MOVIE. I say P'shaw!

So we pull up to my son's house for Christmas last year, and he's out in his driveway wearing a short bathrobe, combat boots, goofy hat with ear flaps... he's holding a beer, cigar and a hose. MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Rick Baker did Octaman when he was first starting out in 1971. Strings were attached from his main arms to the other tentacles to keep them up and moving. You could see the wires too! Speaking of tentacles, wasn't there a movie called Tentacles like in 1978? I remember seeing that in the movies!!
