Going BigFooting/Dogman Adventure
My family, myself and friend are heading to the Va. mountains for a little vacation. We have rented a cabin that sits on 120 acres and backs up to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Very secluded.
My two sons and friend plan on making it into a "see what we can find" trip. We will be in the same area as my "animal in the cave" sighting from years ago. We will have generation 4 night vision, trail cams and the whole bit. Do we expect to find or see anything. No! But my boys now 15 and 17 are so excited to just be looking. And to be honest, so am I. My wife is on board and will be entertaining the girls 3yrs old and 6 months while we do our thing. My wife is the greatest.
Departing in November

Sounds Exciting!
I sincerely suspect since you will have your children and wife with you that you will be armed just in case...At this point I hate to walk my little Yorkies in my own yard! I've read too many scary encounters. Plus this Dogman/Wolfman creature frankly terrifies me.
Thankfully you are a trained weapons expert, so you can and will keep your family safe.
Have fun, and stay armed and packing up there. It's a prime BF area.

honestly Susi, you should be much more worried about your fellow humans than any critter in the woods.

Thanks for the concern. Safety first! I really cannot remember the last time I went anywhere unarmed. It has just become away of life. I do not take the responsibility of being armed lightly. Enough of that, but wouldn't it be nice to come back with undeniable proof of the existence of one of these creatures. I don't mean a body, but just sound proof.

Let us know if..
Let us know should you catch a picture or a specimen, okay? It would be fabulous if you, a member of our forum, got the definitive proof of this species. But be safe, you have your wife and babies with you. Make sure your wife is aware of these possibly dangerous animals being in your vicinity. There are many stories of these animals being seen in that area. Tell her not to walk the babies without you being with her, Okay?

Also!
Don't let the toddler out to play without you being with the child, and you armed. This Dogman creature scares me more than any Bigfoot ever has.

Re: Going BigFooting/Dogman Adventure
Ok, the dates are set for the second week of Nov. Google Earth/topos research on going, gathering supplies and I have been able to secure a FLIR and two generation 4 night vision devices from a very good friend. The cabin site is remote and secluded.
My son showed me on one of the big foot sites several recent accounts of sightings and wood knocking reports in the general area. Do I expect to see anything, NO! But me sons are really chomping at the bit to go.

Absolutely! The sound travels so well at higher elevation.
Knowing my luck, I will get a response from another bigfoot enthusiast doing the same thing as I.

Re: Going BigFooting/Dogman Adventure
Ok all, the weekend is almost here and the week long adventure is on. Hopefully I will have something to report in the way of an experience. All the gear is packed and will be doing a "fly by the seat of our pants" type investigations. I definitely plan on spending some time in the area we had the "dogman" type encounter as well as exploring some other areas close to the cabin we have a few leads on. Excited and anxious is an understatement!

field trip
Sounds very cool!
I was suppossed to be leaving tomorrow for our trip but caught a nasty bug with all the power issues and weather.
Late Winter/Pre Spring will be the time for us
Have fun!!! Thats what's most important. Time with your family will make it memorable enough...add in the possibility of an encounter and you have all of us cheering you on!

Dingo I wish I was going with you, we could use my UAVs equipped with FLIRs and real time video feedback.
I would have my Kimber .45 and think about having my AR-10.308 but I wonder about BF knowing your armed.

Re: Going BigFooting/Dogman Adventure
Thanks all for their concerns and encouragement. All but the little ones have extensive firearms training and basic woodland survival skills. I personally have extensive training in firearms both small and long guns. I have worked both public and private security for the military and currently in the private sector. My wife is an emergency room RN, and we are more than prepared.
All, please do not get me wrong. We our on vacation/fact finding mission for what we saw and what we may encounter. We are 1000% not looking to harm anything. Nor do we plan on being harmed in any way. We will be in a very remote area in the northern part of Virginia. The chance of encountering an unfriendly human is a lot higher than encountering an unknown animal.
I will have my laptop and hopefully reception of some kind. I will post periodically throughout the week on any and all. If we do encounter anything, I will document all and make available exclusively to the Bigfoot Evidence Web Site.

Re: Going BigFooting/Dogman Adventure
Briefly came down from the cabin for some additional supplies. Here for another 4 days. No internet or cell phone signals. So far a very interesting but not spectacular adventure. All is well and upbeat. But after several days of day and night observations and scouting. ALL is tired. I will discuss all next week. Take care all!

Re: Going BigFooting/Dogman Adventure
Well the tribe has returned and somewhat rested. As you all know when you have been absent from normal daily events there is a lot of catching up to do.
I wish that I had found prove beyond belief that bigfoot is amongst us but I did not. We tried a very relaxed quiet unscientific approach to our investigations. Between all of us we averaged roughly 50 man hours a day in the woods and then around the clock surveillance from the cabin porch in attempts to get significant proof. A small effort on our part compared to the years and years of time committed to bigfoot research.
I will say that my family was very positive and continued to stay the course when the weather turned difficult and my wife is a saint keeping us all feed, bandaged up from the occasion mishap and solely keeping the smaller ones entertained so we could investigate.
Our days were filled with walking, sitting and listening. We tried wood knocking but no calling. Every night 2 of us would sleep out in the surrounding woods and use the night vision. The others would take turns around the clock looking from the wrap around porch. We all saw a lot of deer and smaller game and one bear. But no squatch or dogman type animal.
Overall a very enjoyable and fun trip. We are looking at possibly going back in Christmas. I have some other ideas and still strongly believe that we will find something.
